Talk to your LL and tell LL about your delay right away. Explain that you are truly sorry for the inconvenience and that you would even put an extra $25 in (although LLs are within their rights to charge a late fee for late rent). And when the date for payment comes, bring the rent money in personally and get a dated and signed receipt on the spot. Hopefully, showing some courtesy to the LL will make LL less inclined to be wrathful.

: I live in NY in a rent stablized apt. My rent is due today, but I won't have it until the 10th. I got very far behind a few months ago, and got a letter demanding payment within three days, which I paid. Will I be OK until the 10th or due I risk eviction?
