My problem is with posts that state opinions as facts. If you look back on the exchange of emails in question you'll see what I mean. It was a pretty emphatic post, and it would have cost me a lot of dough if I had paid any attention.
All I'm saying is that nonlawyers should not be analysing cases or stating their opinions on legal issues.
: Well, Duh! These are our opinions, just opinions. Based upon our experiences in this field. Some of us are attorneys, brokers, employees of DHCR, HPD, landlords, etc etc. None of our opinions is a substitute for a consultation with an attorney who specializes in whatever problem you may have, and should not be construed as such.
: As far as preferential rents or whatever issue, some of these issues are making their way thru the courts as we speak. Nothing is cast in stone-if it were we wouldn't need lawyers or courts.
