how hot are we talking here? i mean, what is causing the heat? is it just the pilot lights? in many cases the pilot lights can create a surprising amount of heat, but it sounds like yours is somehow worse. is it something like the oven doesn't shut off properly? what i'm getting at, is unless you can prove the stove is malfunctioning, the LL won't do anything.

unless its really old, most stoves should have a shut off valve where it connects to the gas line. i don't know all the ins and out of gas stoves, but every one i've ever dealt with had a switch. or more correctly the gas pipe had a switch right at its reminus, so you could hook up a stove, turn the handle and be ready to go.
