Strongly suggest that you invest in a lawyer, to fight this eviction. If that is not possible, and there is no "pro bono" legal clinic in your area (I think the Assn. of the Bar runs one in Manhattan) be sure to respond to any notices and go to court if a date is fixed.

: ME AND MY FAMILY HAVE BEEN LIVING IN A 3 BEDROOM APT. FOR TWO YEARS. AT THE MOMENT WE HAVE NO SIGNED LEASE IN EFFECT AND THE LANDLORD HAS WRITTEN TO US AND REQUESTED THAT WE EVICT THE APT. BY AUGUST 31, 2001. LEGALLY SPEAKING, WOULD YOU KNOW HOW MUCH TIME I HAVE BEFORE I CAN BE FORCED OUT OF THE APT. CAN I RESORT TO LANDLORD-TENANT COURT IN ORDER TO ASK FOR EXTENSION OF TIME TO LOOK FOR A NEW RESIDENCE?
