I just moved into my first apartment in july 2001 (studio, forest hills) and ever since then, I have come to find my neighbor next door has a 3-4 year old child who screams constantly during the day (up to 9 pm at night). After 30 days I went next door to introduce myself and asked her very politely if she could watch the screaming of her child...she told me her child cannot talk now and gets frustrated...I told her I can take 1 or 2 hours a day but not all day, every day.
The building instructed me to have the doorman buzz the neighbor when they get rowdy and then if that doesn't work after 2-3 times, they will write a letter...
Now, here's the questions. I don't want this to go to court or for my name to show up if I need to look for another apartment that I am a 'problem' tenant who complains a lot... So my question is
1. If I pursue to have the building write a letter...will I be blacklisted in any way
2. Any other remedies that you can think of?
thanks
