Heat/Smell in Apartment

Posted by Bry on August 31, 2001 at 17:56:32:

Hi,
we have just moved into a non-rent controlled apt, 6 stories, 36 units in Manhattan, from out of town. The Super seems reeptive/helpful, and has already repaired blocked sink and other minor problems.

We've been here 4 days, and a smell from the kitchen has become unbearable - we have 3 fans, 4 air fresheners and a regularly overheating air conditioner trying to combat the problem, which isnt helped by the fact that it seems impossible to cool the apartment down. My fiance suffers from asthma, which is being aggravated by the heat/smell.
The super has suggested it may be a problem with the way the kitchen was renovated just before we moved in. But now he is away on vacation, and the smell isn't going away.
I wonder if this can be classed as a Warrant of Habitability issue, and what options we have here?

Thanks in advance,

Bry
