i thought if an apartment was undergoing renovations, it was the LL's job to put the tenant up somewhere. maybe because of the surprise nature of this situation, the LL plum forgot about what you were going to do. given that it's the law, i'm sure the LL would be open to accepting rent minus your costs to live elsewhere. get a receipt for your expenses if possible.
