Sounds like your typical run-of-the-mill New York arguement. You could have handled the situation better. Yelling swears back at him was of course inviting further verbal abuse. Also, you let your dog pee on the sidewalk he's charged with cleaning up right in front of him. While this is legally your right, if the roles were reversed and you were the super would the scene not anger you ?

In any case the best course of action is to ignore him in the future. Be wary of calling the police - if an actual fight takes place, they usually just arrest both participants for assault and let a judge figure out who was at fault. If the super begins to harass you, notify building management in writing of what has happened.
