I will be breaking a lease which will expire March of next year. The landlord says we are responsible for the rent until the end of the lease or until its re-rented. This would be a heavy burden on our part because we are moving to our first home and adding the rent with our mortgage is simply unaffordable. I have two other friends in Staten Island who have move out of their apartments to buy a house and both of their landlords did not run after their rent. They even got their security deposit back.
