This is not a good place to ask for legal advice.You really need to be guided by an attorney for an HP action, or anything in court other than small claims. It is common for lawyers to be particularly down-and-dirty with pro se defendants, and judges sometimes go along.

: I have filed a HP action against my landlord (who has hired an attorney). Today, I received a "rebutal" of this action from his attorney, who asked the judge to dismiss the case, as not relevant, and is asking for $1500 in legal fees. If I lose, do I have to pay the attorney?
