The case was Ram 1 LLC v mazzola and she was charging her roommate more than her rent. DHCR is pushing treble damages for overcharges. If LL learns that one is charging a roommate more than their proportionate share of the rent LL is supposed to serve a 10-day notice to cure. If you don't cure (reduce the roommates rent) then I guess LL can move to evict you.
