Some people need an "in your face" response. Especially adults who mooch off their grandmothers their whole life and who would screw over their family for the sake of a cheap apartment.

The law in NYC is the same for everyone - family or not. 30 day notice to end tenancy. I'd love to hear a judge's reaction should this try to explain why he is "entitled" to an apartment that his dad owns. Pathetic.
