Does the landlord know that your sister is moving to Canada?

Under the roommate law, and probably under your sister's lease, you have a right to live in the apartment with your sister. However, her move to Canada presents a major problem. If she intends to return to New York City, your sister could attempt to sublet the apartment to you, and under the sublet law, the landlord can't unreasonably refuse permission for a sublet.
