PLS. HELP!?! Crt Ques? Rec'd notice, but have to leave town for 2 wks..

Posted by Denise on January 20, 2002 at 20:20:14:

Hi,
I just received a 5 day rent demand notice. I have been withholding my rent for a slew of reasons (mainly warranty of hability and quiet enjoyment). I filed HP actions (and won) against my LL, but there are still tons of outstanding repairs. My problem is that I will be out of town for the next 2 wks (can not be rescheduled) and not here to submit my answer if/when my LL files for a summary proceeding- Can a friend filea pre-written my answer for me? Also, I do not have a lawyer and am afraid of missing my court date if it is set prior to my return...Is there a way that I can assure or delay my court date, so that I may appear? What is the best way/procedure to handle this situation?
Also, anyone know of which Kings County judges will actually take the time out to LISTEN to the tenant? Which ones are pro tenant?
Thanks in advance for your help...
