Who is this second rate lawyer trolling for clients for his megabucks lawsuit on Tenant Net? He obviously doesn't even know the law.

I'm sure he has a megabucks fee in mind. I wish he'd just spend more time studying the law instead of dreaming up million dollar lawsuits (and explain how the act of running a credit report, even without permission, will result in a judge granting "megabucks" to the tenant.)

The more useful reponses here have examined the uses of SSN. Some useful advice: Safeguard your SSN. Credit reports can only be run with your permission. Once your already a tenant, a landlord has little need to run a credit report. And, if someone is really determined, they can figure out your SSN. It's part of so many records. And not illegal to collect. What is illegal is fraudulently using it.
