HELP! Will I be evicted?

Posted by M@ on January 29, 2002 at 10:48:58:

I have lived in the building for seven years without a lease, but have always been billed and paid my rent on a monthly basis. Attached to my monthly rent bill Sunday was a copy of a sublease for my unit. This "sublease" document states that my rent will now be an extra 40%. It also states that a copy of the "over-Lease" is attached. This "Over-Lease" was not attached. What is the "over-lease"?
Should I insist on seeing a copy of this over-lease?

I cannot afford the 40% increase. What can I do?
What happens when I can't pay the increase?
Will I be evicted?
How can I best fight this decision?
Do I need to contact a lawyer?
What if anything can I do?
