: I have a rent stabilized studio apartment in NYC. I've been without a lease for the last 6 years (I've had a lease prior). The good news is that I haven't had a rent increase but, what are my rights? I have ask the landlord on several occasions about the lease to no avail. Can she evict me? Does she have to provide me with a lease? I just don't want to lose the best deal in NYC! Any info. would be helpful. Thank you.

what others said is correct for apartments. but STUDIO? you may really be living in an SRO and therefore the RSC specifically states that you never need a renewal lease.

(what's an SRO? usually one or two rooms without both a complete bathroom and a complete kitchen for your use exclusively; sometimes, they added the bath and/or kitchenette with/without permits years ago.....)
