: Does anyone out there know the correct thickness for a dividing wall (wall dividing two apartments) as far as the NYC fire code goes? I’m pretty sure the wall dividing my apt. from my neighbor’s apt. is too thin and violates the fire code. If so, does anyone know what I can do about it? Thanks a lot, Riley

goto: nyc.gov
then: dept of buildings

fore-codes are mostly incorporated in either the HMC or the Building Codes or both.....
wall thickness is in the building code (or in the tables at the end of the code)

if memory serves: it is two 5/8 inch thick sheets of wallboard
