You don't give us many details or what state you are in.
In many places if tenants are evicted the landlord (in this
case the holder of the mortgage who foreclosed) should keep
your possessions in a warehouse for a period of time.
You may have to pay for the storage, but check the local
state law to see if they can just throw things away. And usually
any eviction must be pursuant to a valid court order.
I would see a local lawyer who knows this stuff to see if
you have a claim against the mortgage holder if they acted
improperly AND your [I assume former] friend.
