If you are active duty military and are breaking your lease because of
offical military orders you may be protected by the Soldiers and Sailors
Act even though your lease does not contain a "military clause". If
you are military, consult your Legal Services Office. If not, then the
landlord can pursue the matter. Even if you are overseas he/she can have
a negative impact on your credit if you don't pay. (Or worse if you get
taken to court and don't appear.)
