Hello,

I am currently living in a sublet in New York City. I used to share the
place with someone, but that person has decided to leave and I cannot
afford the place by myself. Now, if I were to write to my landlord and
inform him/her of my problem and tell them that I can stay here for
another month or so until a new tenant is found, does the landlord have
to make an effort to find a new tenant since if I were to leave now,
he/she would have had to find a way to mitigate their loss?
