NYC Rent Stabilized Apt.

Posted by Ruthia Rich on May 16, 1997 at 23:58:55:

I need to visit my elderly parents in England. I have a rent stabilized apt in a coop and have a new roommate. I have notified the landlord of the name of my new roommate. How long can I safely be away before I am considered to be "temporarily" absent. I only want to go away for up to two months. Can the Landlord claim that I am subletting without permission if I am absent for two months? What about one month? I keep seeing the term "temporary absence" .. where is there a legal definition of temporary absence?
