Yes, they can.

Most landlords, in addition to the ability to access credit reports, call previous landlords directly to find out if there are any "breach of lease". Not paying rent on the first, if rent is due on the first is a breach. I am certain that most landlords aren't as petty about such matters (like paying rent a day or two late) as other creditors, but never will you catch me paying late. As far as I know, landlords legally can and some will submit tenancy information to credit reporting agencies on an ongoing basis.

I must admit that a rent strike is more logical than boycotting NY goods. But still a bad idea. Face it, it's over.
