Hi,
I recently moved into a house (5/19). The landlady has a cat and a dog.
On the first night, I showed my concerns about getting flea bites. She
said she'd bomb the house the next day and she'd keep the pets outside the
house. We would work it out, etc. She didn't get around to getting
foggers until almost two weeks later. Before she did it, she said since
these things are expensive, she wouldn't want to do it again. If I still
get bitten, I have to move out. After I came back from the fleeing-from-
fleas weekend and found I was bitten again, I told her I wanted to move out
in two weeks to make my total stay one month long. The lease says the
rental is for three months (I'm doing a summer job) and a 30-day notice is
required. I'd like to know: does she have the right to not return a single
penny of my $200 security deposit? Are there any other complications?
Would I be better off if I told her that I'd move in a month instead of two
weeks? She has no intention of bathing her pets or keeping her pets from
getting in the house.
Your comments are hightly appreciated.
