Malpractice Lawyer

Posted by John Leigh on June 06, 1997 at 22:45:33:

Landlord ignored the fixing of the problem, so I hold the rent; finally
they filed to district court; I hired the lawyer to counterclaim with the
claim of certain amount which was beyond the limit of district court;
So I asked the lawyer to file to higher court while we wait the hearing at
the district court; but the lawyer told me we had better wait until hearing.
It was my opinion that it might be better to show our credibility instead
of waiting; but anyhow we waited.
At hearing, the judge didn't give any chance for our presentation with the
explanation we decided to file counterclaim at higher court.
After the verdict[we lost!!!] I told the lawyer to file to higher court
right away; but I found he waited until the landlord filed to higher court
with new claim; then finally he gave me the copy of "Notice to Defend," with
couple questions!!!
I feel definitely the lawyer mishandled and idled his responsibility for the
protection of the benefit of the client!!!
How can I solve the problem, and get the compensation if I get the
disadvantage because of his not proper handling?
