false accusations on my credit report from leasing office

Posted by Violette Sproul on July 06, 1997 at 23:38:30:

We have just discovered that the leasing office has been putting marks on our credit report. They are untrue and as a result we will not get accepted into another apartment. Can they just put marks on your credit report without notice? The rent is due on the 1st of the month, if the check is in their office on the 2nd is that grounds for putting in on your credit report even thought you are not charged a late fee until after the 5th? Where can I find information on certain laws prohibiting this behav ior. for background history, we started to have problems with the office after I turned down a position with the company.
