I will try not to be confusing here--
have given notice to vacate my house on 8/18-to leave by 9/30 for
nonpayment of rent(rental amount included utilities which I mailed
in since they were kept in my name).....
over the past 2 yrs. the tenants(friends of my son) have run into
trouble a few times coming up with the money, so kind hearted me put
my own money up to pay utilities and rent(mortage payment)with the
understanding it had to be paid back..some has, some hasn't....
any work they did in house they were to give me receipts and deduct
from rent..they did some work but never any receipts, and deducted money..
they have told me they will be out by 9/30, and now they suddenly have
bunches of receipts that they say will cover sept. rent so they aren't
paying it...have asked for copies of them, we'll see if I get them...
Can I go to court to try to get back all the money I have put up for them
and what about sept. rent? I feel the receipts are bogus. Will this have
to be done before they are out? There was no deposit required, and the
yard is overgrown with weeds and stray trees, house has some broken windows
and I haven't been inside yet. Can I recover anything for the lack of
taking care of the place as agreed upon? I know I'm screwed right?
