Have found out that the LL had turned this 2 family house into 8 units illegally. He refuses to give me a lease and says he can get me to leave with one month notice. Do I have any protection in this situation? Is there any possibility in getting a rent reduction because the building doesn't meet legal requirements (no Cert. of Occupancy, no fire escape, intercom, door buzzer, poor electrical, heat & hot water systems, etc.)? Thanks for any help!
