LL will not confirm move-in date - HELP!

Posted by Laura DeGrace on December 19, 1997 at 17:34:04:

I am moving into a new apartment and paid the money, and got a receipt.
I used a broker. I was promised that the apartment would be ready by
January 1st for a move-in date. I called to sign the actual paperwork,
and the landlord said he couldn't confirm the move-in date, and to call
back in a couple of days. (there are repairs being done)
A couple of days went by, and I can't reach
him. I got my current lease extended to January 2nd just in case, and
left a message with my landlord in regards to this, but I haven't heard
from him and can't get in touch with him.

I spoke to the broker, and she is going to get in contact with him, and
said not to worry. But if I have to put my stuff in storage, it will
cost me a great deal of money, time and aggravation. I think I should
at least be allowed to put my stuff there.

I'm really freaking out, am I worrying too much? Is there any action I
can take?

Thanks in advance.
