: I was given a flyer saying that a repair man would come by on a certain
: day to fix things in our apartments.
: I need to know does the repair person have to knock first before he comes
: in my apartment? Or can he just use his key and walk right in?
: In my case he just used his key and walked in and got an eye full of me
: laying nude in my tanning bed!! How embarassing!! I screamed at him to
: close my door and he only closed it a little and stood there, I had to
: scream at him 2 more times before he shut it all the way. He never once
: told me who he was or what he was doing here. I live in California and I
: do not know the laws we tenants have, I think the man should have knocked
: first and told me who he was. Instead he just walked in on me. Is this an
: invasion of privacy? The flyer DID say he would be there that day. If he
: just would have knocked once, I could have said "Hold on, I need to get
: dressed" but I had no chance, this should not have happened! Please give
: advice!!!

The question is not if you have to give access, but under what conditions.
This is unlawful entering no matter that you had advance notice. I would
tell the owner that if this happens again, you will call the police and
press charges.
