Violent Neighbors, Management Company indifferent

Posted by Rain on February 20, 1998 at 11:43:33:

My friend recently moved into a co-op apartment in Jackson Heights, Queens and her neighbors have been fighting very loudly and violently for the past week. She's had to call the police twice, but the neighbors did not open their door, and neither did my friend. She called the management company and they basically blew her off saying that she should just call the cops and if it got bad, she could break her lease. Then the managment company added that she was "a young girl and in no position to be moving again." What the hell was that about? My friend works for a very prestigious financial institution and is no waif. Anyhow, what can she do to make the management company do something about this themselves?
