Lease dates vs. occupancy dates

Posted by Mark Olson on April 27, 1998 at 10:31:16:

We moved into our current house in Long Island May 16th of 1997. We signed a one year lease and are moving the 16th of this month. The landlord claims it makes no difference what time frame you actually were there only what the lease says. Does anyone know if this is true?

In addition, a new lease has already been signed with a co-worker of ours saving the landlord a lot of money and time.

Thanks,
Mark Olson
