Subject: Re: if my building is condemned...

: I've recently discovered seriously crumbling brick and cracks that make me

: and my neighbors wonder whether our building would be condemned if it were

: inspected. I want to know before I notify the landlord or the city whether

: we tenants have any right to be relocated if the building should be con-

: demned. Or would we be out on the street? Take photos and call the buildings dept as soon as possible. You don't want to be in a building when it collapses, but on the other hand, not all crumbling brick means the building will fall down. If you are temporarily dislocated, consult a good lawyer and pay $1 (one dollar) a month rent to continue the landlord-tenant relationship -- and your tenancy rights.
