Subject: Background Check

What financial information can a potential landlord or broker ask for? A broker asked me for: 1. W-2 form from last year 2. Copy of latest pay stub 3. Letter from current landlord 4. letter from employee 5. copy of latest checking statement 6. copy of driver's license and 7. copy of social security card. This all seems a bit excessive to me, especially the tax and social security information. Anyone know my legal rights to privacy?
