Building being sold - eviction dates

Posted by Larry on August 06, 1998 at 19:02:37:

My present landlord is selling the building in which I live and expects to close on December 1. He is selling it as a vacant building and has requested that all of us tenants (who are all on month-to-month leases) to move out by December 1.

However, I have been contacted by the new owner who wants all tenants out by November 1, so that contractors can come in and take measurements etc. Given the fact that the building will not be hers officially until Dec. 1, does she (the new owner) have any legal rights to make us move out a month early (Nov. 1)?

Feel free to respond here or to me directly at lleonard@jayalix.com.
