Hi, I'm posting this for my younger sister living in Baltimore.
Without notifying her land lord ( a big mistake ) she entered an oral
agreement to sublet her apt to a friend for 3 months (June to Sept) and
was going to collect the rent when she's back from summer vacation.
When her land lord found out about this, he signed a lease with the person
who subletted the apt for 3 months and refuse to refund the 3 months' rent
that my sister already paid back in June!!! Therefore the land lord is
collecting rent from two persons for the SAME APT!! Is this legal? Can my
sister sue her land lord?
The amout involved is under $500 so I figure the oral agreement should have
legal effect. Please help!! Thanks!
