Thanks, Israel for your advice. Here is part two of the story. One of my 2 roommates is moving out by Dec 1 and wanted to use the security deposit as last month's rent. Then on 11/4 the landlord said we had to leave by the end of the month. So if we do decide to get out of this crooked situation all together and don't pay the missing $450, can the LL refuse to return the full remaining security? Are we obligated to pay that rent if we're leaving anyway?
