First of all, the landlord must offer you a renewal lease within 120-150 days prior to the end of the current lease. He cannot force you out of there.
I would write a certified letter and explain that you intend to remain and look forward to your renewal lease due shortly. You may want to tape any phone calls you have with the landlord and quite possibly hide a recorder
in the apt when he comes up to talk in person. Tape recorded conversations are allowed in NY as long as one of the people, (you ), are aware of the recorder. I had to resort to tapes about 10 years ago,with a real slime ball landlord. The tapes came in handy later in court.
Do not move out of your apartment unless you want to. It sounds like it may get nasty if you don't and that's why I suggested the tapes.
