Trouble in Murray Hill!

Posted by Sterren on November 30, 1998 at 16:00:38:

Greetings,

Boy do I have a problem. I moved into my apartment in March '98, signing a sublease agreement
with a long-time "friend". On 11/13 I received in the mail, under my name and the name of the
leaseholder "friend," a Notice to Cure. The landlord -- the infamous Parman Corporation -- claims
that my "friend" is in violation of his lease by having illegally sublet his pad. The Notice
said that the violation must be "cured" by 11/21 or the Landlord will attempt to break the
lease. Well, it turns out -- for reasons better left to a psychotherapist (or the cops) --
that my "friend" never turned over our sublease contract to Parman!!

And last Wednesday, 11/25, I received via mail a Notice to Terminate. Parman wants my studio
apartment vacated by 12/4!

I have no place to go -- what can I do? Do I have any rights?

Regards,
Sterren
