: I'd like to find out if our bedroom basement is legally rented. It has
: flooded three times, and I'd like to get out of the apartment before my
: lease ends, but I don't want to get screwed out of my security deposit.
: I've heard rumors that there are certain requirements about how high the
: windows have to be for it to be legal, etc.

: Any advice out there, or similar situations?

Dept of buildings is 60 hudson st 5th floor......you need to search the computer to find the BLOCK and LOT number as that is how they are filed you can look up
the plans of the building for free but the line is long and they break for lunch, so get there early

Also the Certificate of Occupancy cost all of $5....

Also if you want to make copies of the building plans or the CofO ...BRING CHANGE....
It is a government office and they dont give any change!!!!
