In your own best interest, when you either decide to move or decide to remove the shutters, your best bet is to do so with minimal damage to the property. make every best effort to repair any damage (screw holes, etc) and maintain some sort of photographic log of what you've done to maintain the property. Also, keep receipts for the shutters and any materials you use to repair after removal.
The shutters are yours. But you should be able to prove that you "returned the premises in their original condition".
