The New York Law Journal for Wednesday, May 26th, reports the case of Park West Village Associates
v. Nishioka, in which Manhattan Housing Court
Judge Kramer further weakened a Brooklyn housing
court decision, Paikoff v. Harris, 679 N.Y.S.2d
251 (Civ. Ct. Kings Co. 1998).
The Paikoff decision gave the right of a lease
renewal at a reasonable rent to a co-op or condo
tenant who subleased an apartment from the
sponsor of the co-op or condo after the conversion. The Park West Village decision declines to give such right to the tenant. You can click on the link below, or read the decision at:
