My husband and I are renters in New Jersey. Since we have moved into this apartment over one year ago, we have heard several horror stories regarding our landlady withholding some or all of security deposits. We are nearing the end of our lease and purchased a home out of state. How can we get back all of our security deposit? What is considered normal wear and tear, and are we required to paint the apartment when we leave, or just patch up the nail holes. We have also given a pet deposit for two cats(who have done no damage). Is there anything I can do regarding the walkthrough? Thanks
