Apartment succession rights after death of parent

Posted by jk on June 14, 1999 at 17:39:57:

My father died recently after a 2 year illness for which I essentially moved back into his NYCHA project apt to help care for him. As I had my own apt and was travelling between the two I did not put my name back on the NYCHA project apt lease. I grew up in this apt since being a year old (I am now 30). Does anyone know what the NYCHA party line is in this case? If I want to officially take back the apt can I do it? Will they insist I vacate at the end of the month because I was not on the lease? Would they give me a hassle because it is a two bedroon apt and I am single? I have yet to approach the mgmt. office and wanted to get some info so that I am prepared. By the way, I have been receiving bank mail, driver's license etc. at this address for the past ten years. My desire is to move back even if it is just for 6 months to settle things and not make any rush desiscions or moves.

Thanks
JK
