Strong-arm landlords

Posted by Haisam on June 15, 1999 at 18:50:25:

This past July my wife and I broke our lease and left the apartment 9 months early. Of course the landlord kept our security (which was expected), but now they're trying to make us pay for the 9 months we didn't live there. I must say, however, that it was stated on the lease that they may do this. But, the apartment was occupied almost immediately after we left. Is this fair? Can I legally defend myself against these bastards? By the way... the landlord's name is Cohen & Zerenowitz Realty, and their lawyers are Hayt Hayt and Landau. If, by any chance, anyone has dealt with these people before, please give me some advice. Thank you.
