: Two months after renewing our lease for a year we need to terminate for a job placement to another state. Our lease states a 30 day written notice is needed with last months rent and one penatly month is do. But the problem is we are being told that because the word " Alabama" is written across the agreement we have to forfiet our deposit. The signed lease doesn't state so. Is this true? Can I demand them to show us in writing this verbal demand that we have to forfiet?

: Thanks to any help!

If you have a written lease, it overrides any 'verbal agreement', unless a local/state law overrides both!, usually.

This link has copies of L&T laws & some local orgs from 50 states, including yours: http://www.mv.com/ipusers/nhpoa/other.htm

Also: try your community/town/city website.
