: Days after I had written a few words on the Certificate of
: Inspections card that is generally found in the mailbox area
: of the lobby, the card-- on which Inspectors from HPD's
: Division of Code Enforcement note their badge numbers and
: initials-- vanished! No replacement. I've always checked
: the card, noting regular inspection dates, for various
: problems that rarely were corrected. This is the first
: time the card's been absent. You don't think it could be
: because I questioned whether anyone was being bribed, and
: wrote that our elevator problem could be a news item in-the-
: making? (I'm glad I took the time to jot down the dates and
: badge numbers listed on the last card, just in case something
: does happen.) Nancy B.

IMHO: The owner/manager/super stupidly believes that if the card is missing, the next HPD inspector will think that this is a clean bldg, with no violation history! (well: that's what they said they believed in my bldg!!)

BTW: That card must be completely filled out & placed in an enclosed frame on a wall visible from beyond the locked bldg door. If not, it is one more violation of the HMC (or is it the MDL? or both? look it up on TenantNet if you're so inclined).

PS: After it shows up again & HPD records something on it: borrow it & take it to the photocopy machine in the corner deli/newstore... Also: if you want a history of HPD visits: go to your borough HPD office, get a computer printout of violations or photocopy individual inspection reports (heat/hot water complaints are on a separate computer).
