In Reply to: Coop - Alarm vs. Quality of life posted by Marsha D on July 25, 1999 at 17:14:21:

Is this in NYC? Are you and owner or are you renting? If you're renting, are you stabilized or subletting from an owner?

: I live in a coop on the ground floor and I am faced with the possiblity
: that the Board will install a motion detector equipped with an alarm on a
: fire exit in the building. I'm not even sure that this can be considered
: as a "fire exit". The problem is that the stairway to this exit is on a
: common wall in my apartment. The alarm is supposed to be the type
: that will reset itself in anticipation of the next person that violates
: the motion detector. This stairway is used very often by MANY people who
: are leaving the building. I know that such an alarm will have an effect on
: my quality of life. I have made my concerns known to the Board but I fear
: that they have fallen on deaf ears and will install the alarm anyway.
: What recourse do I have regarding this matter?

: Thanks in advnace for any input.
