I have a neighbor who is renovating his house. I am awakened every day around
6:50am by loud banging, power tools, scraping sounds, workmen calling back and
forth, etc.

I have approached the apparent foreman, who says he is the owner, and asked if
they can start work later, at say, 8am, so that I (and my neighbors) can get
a full night's sleep. He says he is within his rights to start construction
at 7am, and refuses to compromise. The construction is supposed to last all
summer.

I checked the local ordinance and he is in fact within his rights. He can start
at 7am every day if he wants to, even on Saturday!

What about MY rights? Don't I have the right to sleep after 7am? Do I have to
re-arrange my schedule and go to sleep at 10 pm (even on Fridays) so that this
guy can renovate his house at 7am? I am furious that there is no apparent
protection for me and my neighbors.

I am becoming irritable and short-tempered because of the noise
and lack of sleep, and my job, health, and relationships are being affected.

Short of moving or getting a different job, what can I do?
