I spoke with an attorney on the phone and explained my situation. He told me to fax or mail him all documentation that I have, along with a check for $100 and that he would then get back to me. He said it wouldn't be necessary for us to meet in person since I already explained everything to him on the phone.
It sounds good to me, but I'm a little leary of sending a $100 check to someone with no real guarantee. Is this normal practice for tenant lawyers? Or do I have a well-grounded reason for hesitating?
